Asian Cities

When it comes to Asia, lose your inhibitions and go full throttle. A continent of fascinating diversity, one corner might present historic tales detailing heroes and villains, while the other will dazzle with futuristic skylines and bright urban lights. You’ll get swept away in cultures that have been forged over many centuries, and stories that are depicted in time-worn towers, pagodas and even jungle-clad temples.

Singapore

Known as the ‘Gateway to Asia’, Singapore is a vibrant tropical destination, world renowned for its shopping, eateries, attractions, style and cleanliness. Whether you head there for two days or ten, you’ll find no trip to the ‘Lion City’ is ever the same.

Not many cities in Asia can boast Singapore’s fascinating ethnic mix. Throughout history, migration has left its stamp on the city’s culture. Visit the bright sari and bangle stores in the old shop houses of Little India, and in Chinatown explore the many antique stores or bargain hunt for silk.

For the shopaholics, Orchard Road is a must; the variety and quality here will leave you spoilt for choice. Allow plenty of time, as you’ll be lucky to see half of it in one day.

With the huge developments recently around the Marina Bay area; the iconic Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay.  Not to mention Resorts World® hosting Universal Studios Singapore®, and S.E.A. Aquarium™,  it is no wonder people keep going back to this city time and time again.

The river plays host to plenty of fabulous bars and restaurants in the three popular quay areas; Clark Quay being the most famous, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay.  Although Singapore has come a long way over the past 10 years and now showcases itself as a modern international city, you can’t leave without heading to Raffles Hotel for High Tea or a legendary Singapore Sling; an experience that carries with it generations of colonial history and tradition.

For a country the size of Lake Taupo, Singapore has so much to offer and is so much more than a stopover!

Saigon

Quite simply, one of the most divine Asian destinations on the planet. Breathtakingly beautiful, Vietnam is a country on the move. Fast, energetic and resilient by nature, it is rapidly emerging as one of the latest hotspots of Asia. A fun country to explore, the culture is rich, the scenery majestic and the locals are friendly.

With many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, breath-taking scenery, beautiful beaches, an abundance of shopping and a delectable cuisine – Vietnam is a kaleidoscope of cultural and sensory contrasts; Vietnam has it all and will no doubt impress.

Ho Chi Minh City - The largest city in Vietnam & the commercial heart of the country, traffic is intense and never ending. It’s a mix of modern skyscrapers and colonial architecture. Chinese pagodas are dotted throughout, as are open green spaces. Visit an array of markets for anything your heart desires, museums for history lessons and art galleries to see amazing creativity. Dine on small stools at street food pop ups, or head high for a drink in the skyline.

Tokyo

Japan is a majestically mountainous country surrounded by the ocean, lined with many waterways, and abundant in nature. As the country stretches some 3000 kilometres north to south, it encompasses a range of climates from subarctic to subtropical with four distinct seasons, meaning there is no shortage of activities to be enjoyed year round.

Tokyo is an incredibly dazzling and diverse city. A night out in Shinjuku and an amble down the lanes of the old city (Golden Gai) are a must at dinner time even if you choose not to dine there. Little nook restaurants and bars crammed together only seat a handful of people each but around the corner, modern Shinjuku is a surreal maze of neon colour where everyone from businessmen to eccentrically dressed youngsters swarm.
